School (Parent) Council
All parents are welcome to participate as active members of the SMHS Catholic School Council. The Council is an exciting way to get involved with the educational experience of students at the school. Your involvement on school council is a way to help strengthen the partnership involving parents, students, teachers, administration, staff, the Board and the broader community.
At St. Mary's we encourage all parents to consider their involvement on the council. Many educational studies have shown that parents who stay involved in their child's education at the high school level see tangible results including improved academic achievement; positive attitudes towards school; more success with homework; and consistent attendance at school.

School Council will be meeting for their first meeting of the school year in September to discuss academic, social, and other events/plans at St. Mary’s. We will also be selecting representatives for the roles of Chair, Treasurer, and Administrative Assistant. For parents and guardians of students at St. Mary’s, School Council it is a great way to keep updated on the events going on at your child’s school, and to take a role in shaping their future
Please join us at our Council meetings (second last Wednesday of the month of school) and visit the school website on a regular basis to become more informed about the decisions that we make regarding your school community. With your participation and ideas, we can make a difference!
